Fishing Club

Good Morning Fellow Fish Finders (seekers), 24 came to share their fishing adventures and enjoy, Fishin Frank, our speaker at the November 13th meeting. He presented some fascinating theories regarding area issues like red tide, red fish tournaments and harbor health etc.
I cannot imagine how difficult it has been for many businesses  including many fishing guides that rely on our waters this past year. While Frank has done a great job of expanding his Boutique and continues to be a wonderful contributor of his knowledge, skills and resources to the fishing community, this year has certainly taken its toll on his business both financially and personally.  By the way our many drawing prizes are contributed by Frank.
Our contributions to the donut fund amounted to $49.00 this meeting and after paying for donuts and contributing $100.00 to CHEC, we have $101.00 in the kitty.
Capt. Nevin called me with a great suggestion that we should, during the Christmas season, pick up some pizzas for the crew at Fishin Franks as a thank you for their support throughout the year. Let me know your opinion and who might want to go with me to deliver them. My wife Michelle always sends a pumpkin roll she makes over every year as well.
Thank you all for sharing your fishing stories, pictures and ideas in 2018. We are only as good as our members.

Good luck out there!

Capt.'s. Doug Rhees

Red grouper bag limit changes to 2 on May 7 in Gulf state and federal waters

The red grouper recreational bag limit will change from four to two fish per person in Gulf of Mexico state and federal waters, excluding Monroe County, on May 7.

This change was approved by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) at its November 2014 meeting.

The Commission hopes that this change will allow for a longer recreational red grouper season in federal waters, which closed early in 2014 because the recreational catch limit was exceeded in 2013. The two-fish bag limit was initially requested by Florida anglers and for-hire captains to help maximize fishing opportunities for red grouper, especially during late fall.

To learn more about red grouper catches, visit MyFWC.com/Fishing and click on “Saltwater,” “Recreational Regulations” and “Gulf Grouper.”

Attention Gulf reef fish anglers: You’ve asked for better data and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has listened and taken action. Now the FWC needs your help.

Tip of the Month?

Anyone have a fishing tip, location, lure, bait or other information they would like to share?  Send me the information and I'll post it here.

We left Miami on March 24 and fished March 25, 26, 27 and returned to Miami March 28, 2014.  The season for bill fishing in Guatemala is from November through May.

Our all up coast per person for air fare, ground transportation accommodation, meals, fishing and tips was $5000.00 each. The cost was all inclusive

We hooked up 94 fish in three days of fishing, landed 72 sailfish, 80 to 110# 4-Dorado 40 to 60# and 2 Yellow fin Tuna each at 45#

The other three anglers were friends of mine, Bob Leonard, Van Stockwell and Les Patzer.
